Students work together to create a series of 10 minute plays through a variety of exercises that examine scene and overall play structure, characters, conflict, events, dialogue, and action. Emphasis is placed on idea generation, creative risk taking, and a thorough process.
In classes, our older playwriting students will work on scenes and monologues from both classical and contemporary plays to provide context for their own original work.
For our younger students, the playmaking process includes lots of improv games, creative exercises and fun writing prompts as they work together to devise their own plays.
(Want to be part of the entire play creation process? Come back for Design/Tech and design the set and/or costumes for your own 10 minute play!)
Final Showcase: a reading of our Playwright’s scripts in PGT’s Jonah Mac Theatre!
